The intent of our blog is to inform Chicago transit users of the arising problems that stem from both the recession and ineffective CTA management. We will briefly talk about each of the following issues: the pension problem, layoffs, fare hikes, worker shortages, route cuts, train equipment problems, infrastructure issues, and safety.
Although we will not be examining each topic in great depth, we plan to use this blog to create a discussion of these issues from the consumer standpoint in order to inform the public.
We will also be including an overview of the Chicago transit system in comparison to public transportation systems in other metropolitan areas such as New York and Los Angeles. This will allow us to examine other cities to see what improvements can be made in providing a more effective and beneficial experience for CTA consumers.
